Weed Control
The Village of Slinger has an ordinance requiring that properties are to be maintained and free of noxious weeds. Please refer to Chapter 206-5 of the Village Zoning Codes.
Lawn Maintenance
Per the Village of Slinger Ordinance 206-3, lawns shall be maintained to a height not to exceed 8 inches. Plantings should be maintained so as not to present hazards or a nuisance to adjoining properties or to persons or vehicles traveling on public ways and shall be maintained to enhance the appearance and value of the property.
All Slinger residents and property owners are required to keep sidewalks on their property free and clear of any obstructions and potentially hazardous conditions, including snow and ice.

A common misconception is that a street excavation permit is only needed when work is proposed within a Village roadway. In fact, a street excavation permit is needed any time work is proposed within Village rights of way, generally described as the area from 1 foot behind the sidewalks in urban areas and approximately 33 feet from the centerline in rural areas. The actual right of ways widths varies on a road-by-road basis. They should be verified with the Village Engineer prior to starting any digging in these areas.
A street excavation permit can be obtained at the Village Hall for $75.00.

Road Access Application
The Village of Slinger, according to the Traffic Manual (Parking, Stopping and Standing Regulations (A)), has the following restrictions in regard to Winter Parking:
No person shall park any vehicle on any Village of Slinger Street or lot between the hours of 3:00am and 6:00am on any day between November 1st and April 15th.
During times of heavy or extended snow events, temporary no parking areas may be declared so that snow may be removed in some of the areas that are limited in snow storage capacity.
Please obey the signs in these instances so we may keep your roadways clear for all motorists.
Notice: It is also a violation of Village Ordinance to park any vehicle for a period of time longer than 24 hours on any Village street during any time of the year.
The Parks, Public Works & Forestry Department provides curbside pickup of brush between April and November. Larger branches, with a diameter between 1-8 inches, can be set at the resident’s curbside for pick-up. Brush must be curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Monday of the first full work week of each month from April to November.
Brush must be cut into pieces no shorter than 3 feet to allow for safe and efficient collection. Branches shorter than 3 feet in length may be brought to the Parks, Public Works & Forestry yard and deposited in the yard waste bin which is provided for lawn clippings and brush.
Branches left for curbside collection should be stacked neatly and have the cut end of the branch facing the roadway. All wires, nails and strings must be removed before the brush will be collected. Brush not stacked neatly with cut ends towards the roadway or with wires, nails, or strings will not be collected. Root ball and stumps will not be collected. Materials cleared from vacant lots will NOT be collected but may be dropped off at the Public Works yard waste bin.
Residents may want to call the Village Hall and give their address in order to inform the DPW crew of the need for a pickup. Otherwise, crews will go around and pick up any curbside branches they see on their own.
The Village of Slinger has a compost area available in the DPW parking lot for Slinger residents to dispose of grass clippings, leaves and small branches (1″ in diameter or smaller). The compost area is for Slinger residents only! Anyone outside the Village caught using the compost area will be prosecuted.
The Village of Slinger does not provide curbside leaf collection services. Residents may collect leaves and dispose of them in the yard waste bin provided at the Public Works yard located next to the Slinger Library. Raking leaves into the roadways is prohibited and may cause blockages in the storm sewer system and could result in enforcement action.
The Village of Slinger picks up Christmas trees starting the first week in January. Trees should be left curbside with the cut end of the tree facing towards the roadway. Should you choose to remove the tree yourself it can be dropped off at the Public Works yard and placed along the north fence line near the mulch pile.
